Making Tamil Nouns Plurals Lesson 12

Generally, we make plurals by taking the noun and adding கள்.
Words ending in a long vowel (ஆ ஈ ஊ ஏ ஓ) add க்கள்.
Words that end in ம், change the ம் to ங் then add கள்

Exercise 1: Change singular to plural:
a. விழா .... விழாக்கள் (festival, party)
b. வீடு .... வீடுகள்  (house)
c. மீன் .... மீன்கள் (fish)
d. கண் .... கண்கள்  (eye)
e. கால் .... கால்கள் (foot)
f. படம் .... படங்கள்  (picture)
g. பழம் .... பழங்கள் (fruit)
h. புறா .... புறாக்கள் (pigeon)
i. ஈ .... ஈக்கள் (fly)

Exercise 2: Translate sentence to Tamil.
a. They will buy pens. அவர்கள் பேனாக்களை  வாங்குவார்கள்.
b. Mother will pluck flowers. அம்மா புக்களை பறிப்பார்கள்.
c. A goat chases the students. ஆடு மாணவர்களை துரத்திகிறது.
d. The students will chase the dog. மாணவர்கள் நாயை துரத்துவார்கள்.

Plurals

This is based on a flashcard set made by a member of livemocha
Some of the transliterations are not quite how Azhagi or blogger would do them, so I am looking up the words and transliterating back into written Tamil.
